Mining - Tailings

One of the most unpleasant byproducts of all mining applications are open pit mine tailings. Worldwide, the storage and handling of tailings is a major environmental issue. Most open pit mines transport their tailings to wet storage areas of pits or ponds. These ponds can be enormous in scale since the actual mineral extraction is typically only ounces or pounds for every ton of earthen rock moved. Mine tailings lines carry heavy slurries often with toxic chemicals. The knife gate valves in this application must have bubble tight shut-off and extended service life in extreme conditions. Most mine tailings are very abrasive and are traveling at high velocities.
The Wey Knife Gate Valve is the perfect solution for this application where absolute zero leakage and long service life is critical in both transportation and isolation of mine tailings.
