Operation Without Blockages
When shutting off powdered or granular media, blockages or leaks are a common problem. Conventional valve gates cannot pass through solids as easily as through liquids. When closing the valve, solids often remain trapped between the gate edge and the valve body during the final millimeters of the stroke, preventing a complete seal. At the same time, when opening the knife gate valve, very fine solid particles are drawn upward with the gate between the body halves, where they block the gate.
We have optimized our gate design for powder applications such as these. Our powder design for the gate features a sharper cutting edge that effortlessly cuts through columns of material. Milling recesses at the corners prevent material buildup and ensure a clean seal. The powder design for the gate is available for nearly all of our knife gate valve series.
