According to experts, fossil resources for energy generation will last a maximum of 100 more years. The use of biomass forms a promising part of the conversion to renewable energy sources. In a recent report, the NDR accompanies the construction of a biogas plant in Torgelow in northern Germany. More than 70 Wey knife gate valves VN were installed in the new plant. Due to the aggressive components of biomass and the resulting gases, the valves must be particularly resistant. Leakage of digestate or methane would have fatal consequences for the environment.
