Knife gate valves with emergency manual override
Certain plants require that built-in valves can be operated at any time - come what may. This is also the case at a plant in Senegal, which is used in mining and for which the knife gate valves of the MF series in the photo were manufactured.
In normal operation, the knife gate valves are operated pneumatically. In case of failure of the electric power or a drop in compressed air supply, the valves can still be opened or closed manually. For this purpose, the spindle is turned down to the piston rod and connected with a pin so that the gate can be moved by handwheel.
