Six tons of shut-off performance
These knife gate valves are not only made for large flow rates, but also for high pressures. Despite the impressive nominal size of DN 1600, the valves are designed for a nominal pressure of 6 bar. Assembly at the Swiss Sistag plant was often a challenge - after all, the finished valves weigh an impressive 6 tons.
Together with some only slightly smaller DN 1400 knife gate valves, these valves leave our factory for Poland, where they are used in wastewater treatment. Huge quantities of wastewater are transported through a tunnel under a river to the treatment plant on the other bank. Due to the large volume of water and the difference in height between the bank and the river bed, the wastewater is transported entirely without pumping power, but by gravity alone.
The reliability and tightness of the fittings is particularly important for this project. In the event of leaks, contaminated water could enter the river and be transported across the country. The clients were therefore invited to the final pressure test in Switzerland. All valves passed the test and will soon be delivered.
