Powder performance

When shutting off powders and granules, valves are subject to different demands than when transporting pure liquids. The abrasion is stronger, the resistance in the pipeline is higher and the environment is often particularly challenging.

We have therefore designed a special powder design for our Wey knife gate valves. The modified geometry of the gate makes it easier to push through solid, sometimes stationary, columns of medium without blocking. The nitrided surface also makes the stainless steel gate harder and thus more resistant to abrasion. The same applies to the wear ring, which protects the valve passage.

The transverse seal has been doubled to ensure tightness against the outside even at higher pressures. Any blockages that occur in the chest area can be eliminated via a purge port. A slightly larger pneumatic cylinder ensures that closing is still possible even when the passage is filled with solids.

The knife gate valve MF DN 200, which left our factory for the Netherlands last week, will be used to transport fine sand and gravel. Since it will be installed outside, a bellows protects the piston rod from solid particles in the air.
