High performance valves for oil sands mining
On a list of the harshest environments for valves, Canadian oil sands mines are probably at the upper end of the scale. Our knife gate valves are usually exposed to wind and weather without protection, with temperatures fluctuating between -55°F and +95°F. In addition, they are often installed over endlessly wide areas, which makes inspection and maintenance difficult.
It is therefore all the more important that all vavlves are 100% leak-proof and function perfectly and sustainably even with highly abrasive sand mixtures. Every single one of our knife gate valves was therefore pressure tested for leaks before delivery - at pressures far above the guaranteed 650 psi. As the W3 knife gate valves must be bidirectionally tight, the tightness test is carried out separately from both sides.
