The highest whisky distillery in the world
High up in the Swiss Alps, near Silvaplana, at 3303 meters above sea level, lies the Corvatsch mountain station. Tourists are not the only ones getting up the mountain by cable car. Every now and then, the gondola also transports man-sized containers of mash to the summit. A Wey knife gate valve ensures that the mash and the guests reach their destinations with no trouble to each other. While the guests head for to the viewing platform, the mash goes to the ORMA distillery, which produces an exquisite selection of whiskies up here.
